Your company has a Mission Statement. Does your sales team have one too?
Most companies have a Mission Statement and leverage it as much as possible – on their website, with employees, customers and investors. I think this is important, and can align the company. However, I think each group within the company can have a mission statement as well. And let me be clear, it must jive with the corp mission statement and not be a contradiction. That will be counter intuitive and if you are the VP of sales, you should get the boot. I have always come up with a mission statement for the sales team and use it to remind, reboot and recharge the sales team. Below is an example of one I put together…feel free to use it.
Sales Team Mission Statement
We are a sales team that prides ourselves on our professionalism, first and foremost.
This professionalism is both externally and internally.
We share amongst our fellow peers and help in each other’s success – we understand that we all win together.
We work HARD, play HARD!
A NO from a prospect is not a NO, it’s a NOT NOW. We will sell everyone, so treat every Opportunity this way.
We leverage our internal assets and put egos aside and just WIN!
Our focus is to grow our client base and add new logo’s, upsell existing clients and increase ARR. All while having the client’s best interest in mind.
Always be Professionally Aggressive. Sell your strengths not competitors weakness. Sales Fundamentalists – put the client first, and everything else will take care of itself. Be Deal Makers and Product Experts. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and do not try and win deals alone.
